We are holding our Annual Sprecher East Neighborhood Association Meeting on Saturday, March 31st between 10:00AM and 11:30AM at the Door Creek Church. The meeting will be held in Quad 1 on the Lower Level.

At the meeting, we will discuss our finances and hold officer and board elections. City Council President and District 3 Alder Lauren Cnare will be a guest speaker; County Supervisor Dave DeFelice will also be invited to speak.

This year, all four Officer Positions are up for election – President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. President Kirk Nelson, Vice-President Kris Dockter, and Treasurer Sarah Johnson have all announced they will not be seeking re-election for these positions, so there will be key openings for Executive Committee Members!! There are also three open positions on the Board of Directors.

To become a SENA Officer or Board Member, you need to be an adult that lives within the boundaries of the Sprecher East Neighborhood, and you need to attend this year’s SENA Annual Meeting to be elected.

SENA has two primary roles -
1) Provide a voice and act as a contact for the Neighborhood to the City of Madison, Dane County, and other Government Officials
2) Organize Neighborhood Social Activities, such as a Garage Sale, Summer Picnic, Ice Cream Social, Christmas Party, or Easter Egg Hunt.

Historically, the President and Vice-President serve as the primary contact to the city and county, and provide information to neighbors on topics such as upcoming events, important meetings, development issues, street improvements, and local news. The President calls up to four meetings per year, and can also call special meetings.

The new Board of Directors will be determine the priorities for social activities, future newsletters, annual dues, public safety, and commercial, housing, and park development discussions. SENA’s membership year currently runs from April 1 – March 31.

Do you like events like the Garage Sale and would like to help organize them? Do you want to meet and work with City and County Public Officials and represent the neighborhood? Do you want to help build our community spirit and get to meet more of your neighbors? Are you a good writer and would like to create a Neighborhood Newsletter? Would you like a stronger platform to voice your thoughts about development in the area?

This is your opportunity to get involved. We encourage all interested neighbors in Door Creek, Meadowlands, and Reston Heights to get directly involved in the process. SENA needs your participation to remain a strong group - your neighborhood needs you to help represent them. The time is now and today is the day. Don’t wait for it to happen, make it happen.

We will be sending a postcard later in March announcing the upcoming SENA Annual Meeting.
